The Modern Man - a personal perspective.

1) I am an extremist egalitarian

I believe that each and every person on this planet has an equal right to die, and they also have an equal right to appease my vanity by sending me sycophantic messages of desire, love, lust, whatever tickles their fancy. Everyone is equally able to receive my ire, my respect, my destructive tendencies.

2) I am a paranoid optimist

This claim bases itself on two key assumptions:

  1. Being smarter is an advantage
  2. Being smarter is a danger to me

The sharper amongst you will have already figured out that by being a paranoid optimist, I assume that people are smarter than they first appear, and that in essence they are a threat to me. Thankfully I must say that after close examination most people turn out to be just as smart as they first appear, and quite a few turn out to be less. But my paranoia is always rewarded when I find that rare gem, that sparkling diamond just waiting to be cut amongst the great unwashed of the general proletariat. Because that person is always out there to get me, unless I appreciate what they are up to.

3) I am a visual beast

Metrosexuality has become quite the catch-phrase to describe the modern Man. This is not true of me - I have no care for fashion (just ask anyone who's ever seen me on one of my 'conservative days'). However, I do appreciate the need for the modern Man to appreciate his visual senses, to allow them to bathe in the luxurious beauty of the modern world.

4) I am a Moral Man

The modern Man has a keen concept of morals - how else would he have become the egalitarian that he is today? Surely an immoral Man would not outlaw the death penalty, abhor the usage of firearms, detest the separation of peoples. A moral man is a thinking man, a man prepared to listen to other's opinions equally, yet a moral man respects no moral code but his own. Morality has come full circle - it is no longer ordained from on high, but rather it blossoms from the eternal garden of Man's desires and fears.

5) I have no Shame

The Man who suffers from shame is a defeated Man. It is important for the Modern Man to discard this oppressive tool of the Ancien Régime (comprising both the current religions and the Matriarchy of Womyn), to discard these feelings of being constrained by social mores and dictates. The Modern Man's actions are dictated only by his own morality, not the morality of others impressed upon him.

6) I pity those Men who have not reached Modernity

Those Men who have not reached Modernity are Men stuck in the constant struggle against the Ancien Régime, who still suffer from Shame, who do not realise all of the points related herein. These Men are amongst the Damned, and it is up to those of us who have reached Modernity to help save them. Tell them of this Haven, and inform them that Salvation is possible through the recognition of your inner morals and the rejection of morals imposed. Warn them of the dangers of not being a paranoid optimist, of not treating others with care of an extremist egalitarian. In short, spread the word.

7) I recognise that Tradition has its place with the Modern Man

I believe that Modernity comes from Tradition, and hence we must respect traditions. Traditions such as the womyn's role in the home and hearth, the Right of Men to generalise, the Tradition of the Walla-Walla Dunedoo. However, I also realise that not all traditions are correct (for example the tradition of priests sodomising the altar boy), and that we must pick and choose which traditions one is to follow. This allows Men  to maximise our Modernity, to become not only Modern now, but also to show our Modernity as being an integral part of our nature.

8) I am a wombat

The Modern Man eats roots and leaves.
